AI accounting for contractors: the right tool for the right job

The right tool for the right job. In the field you use equipment and tools built for a narrow purpose, and they excel at it. AI works the same way. Levvigo helps you design, build, and implement AI tools for your accounting and business operations — and, most importantly, decide which ones are worth building. Each one does one job well, with a construction accountant checking what comes out.

What AI takes on

The repetitive work: reading, coding, matching, reconciling, and assembling the same reports every month. It fills an accountant's day and uses the least of what they know. We set AI tools up to do it — consistently, every day — so your most valuable asset, your people, can spend their time on the work that needs judgment.

What your accountants do

They don't leave this process. They move up in it. Most construction accounting teams spend their days on entry and clean-up and rarely reach the work that changes outcomes: knowing a job's real cost to complete before the PM does, catching a change order while it can still be billed, telling the owner which job is fading and why. When the clerical work runs on tools that are set up and monitored, those hours become available. The judgment stays where it belongs — what a job is really worth, whether an under-billing is real, whether a tool's output is right — and a construction accountant checks every output before it reaches you.

Two ways to work with us

We run it for you. Levvigo sets up the processes on AI-based platforms, runs them, and checks the output. You get the result: clean job costs, a monthly close, WIP that ties. (This is the outsourced construction accounting service.)

We set it up and train your team. Your accountants keep the work. We define each process — what goes in, what comes out, what “to spec” means — build it on the AI platform you choose with your existing tools, and train your team to run it, check it, and know when to stop and ask. Typical engagements: AP coding and approval flow, bank reconciliation, job-cost report preparation, month-end checklist.

Honest limits

AI tools are good at volume and consistency and bad at judgment. They will not tell you a job is going to lose money; they will give a person clean data a week earlier so the person can. If a vendor tells you their AI “handles WIP,” ask who signs off on the cost-to-complete.

Questions contractors ask us

Is this just bookkeeping software with an AI label?

No. Everything we do is built for you, for your business, for your needs.

Does our team need to be technical?

No. If they can follow a month-end checklist, they can run a calibrated process. The training is about inputs, outputs, and what to check — not prompts.

What happens when the AI gets something wrong?

The same thing that happens when a new hire codes a bill wrong: someone catches it, and we adjust the setup so it doesn't recur. That checking step is why there's a construction accountant on every engagement.

Which accounting systems does this work with?

Most systems with a usable export or API. If you're not sure about yours, ask.

How is this priced?

Running it for you: a flat monthly fee. Set-up and training: a fixed-scope project per process, then optional monthly support.
